Burning Centre was premiered in 2001 at Resolutions! at The Place, London to acclaimed reviews. The solo has since toured in the UK and to Japan, Portugal and New York. With original music by New York based, Japanese composer Ushio Torikai ‘as the chanting layered voices by Ushio Torikai creep into her space, the hypnotic intensity builds..’ this simple and powerful solo is clear and strong in its delicate unfolding and animal intensity. Burning Centre highlights the power, presence and freedom of motion inherent within Janis Claxton’s unique dance style.
