In June 2009 Janis Claxton visited China on a British Council Connections Through Culture Grant. Humanimal Beijing was a collaboration with Janis Claxton and Shu Yang Artistic Director of the DaDao Live Art Festival. 7 performers lay inside the enclosures in the gallery floor for 2 hours while gallery visitors stumbled upon them and observed their behavior.
